Ogni promessa è debito. E' terminato il countdown per il versamento del contributo italiano al Fondo Globale

De Ponte: "Another incident that undermines the credibility of Italy"

Rome, August 31, 2009 - " Today is the last day of the month and at this point we doubt strongly that our government honors the ' commitment made by the G8 to pay € 130 million to the Global Fund to fight HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria by August. Another episode of unfulfilled promise that puts a strain on the credibility of our country in the international , "said Marco De Ponte, secretary general of ActionAid.

At the G8 summit of L'Aquila - remember ActionAid - the Italian prime minister promised that by August they would be brought into Italy of the payments to the Global Fund but already on 15 July, the Economic and Financial Planning Document (DPEF) approved by the Council of Ministers, not v 'was no trace of this financing, or other signals were received in support of the promise the Prime Minister.

"Italy, despite being the country promoting the Global Fund at the G8 in Genoa in 2001, adopts an attitude towards a batch tool that has proved very successful and is saving millions of lives. This reduces the effectiveness of the down trend against major pandemie. Per fermare il meccanismo di propagazione del virus dell’HIV-AIDS occorrono cure continue: i malati non possono certo permettersi un anno di sospensione dei trattamenti ".
